== RevisionDelete and Latest Spam Wave ==

I'm considering contacting eventhorizon about allowing me to delete specific revisions of pages here (the "revisiondelete" action exists but for some reason is disabled by default). This comes after the latest spam issues from users SaveUkraine and Hot Girl Sex 2024‎ that I have since blocked indefinitely ([[Statue of United Town|with]] [[Whistler Tea Rooms|all]] [[Simple 3 Speed Left|affected]] [[Simple - Kone Ecodisc|pages]] [[Boards|semi]] [[Buildings|protected]] 1 week and page creations deleted and salted). Also considering a filter blocking users from creating pages until they are at least 7 days old and have at least 20 edits (this is a little more than autoconfirmed because I'd like users to at least have some experience here before creating pages; but excluding certain "Talk" namespaces) [[User:Elevator1512|Elevator1512]] ([[User talk:Elevator1512|talk]]) 09:42, 13 March 2024 (CDT)

:I agree with you. There will be less spam pages if new users need to have a sufficient number of edits first. Deletion of specific revisions would also be useful, so that you won't need to go through the process of deleting an affected article, removing the spam revisions, and restoring it. ::Deleting an affected article and removing revisions then restoring it has been what I had to do because the <code>revisiondelete</code> action is disabled (I've contacted eventhorizon about this). It's taken extra steps and appears in the [[Special:Log/delete|deletion log]] twice (once for deletion and another for undeletion). I'll see what I can do with the filter blocking users less than 7 days and 20 edits, maybe import one from Wikipedia and then playing with parameters until it is just right. ::The specific revisions I want to hide are the ones by spam user accounts and IP ranges, but not the edits that undo/revert those actions. Hopefully I hear back from eventhorizon soon and will post here if <code>revisiondelete</code> becomes available to me (as a sysop). :::Another update: The <code>RevisionDelete</code> function is only available to a user group called "[[Special:ListGroupRights|Surpressors]]" (I'll need to contact eventhorizon via email or PM on forum sometime; I'll have to undelete the revisions I manually deleted and then hide them; implying that the revision still happened) [[User:Elevator1512|Elevator1512]] ([[User talk:Elevator1512|talk]]) 22:48, 26 March 2024 (CDT)
::::Update: Now that I have the <code>Suppressor</code> permission I have been testing the function out by deleting revisions and some log entries I knew to be spam while still showing that they occurred in the edit history. ::::Note that I also have been testing hiding and unhiding log entries too and test suppressing those, just to make sure that the functions are working and I can do so whenever someone needs something revdeleted or suppressed.
