This building was built in July 1956 as an office building without name. The construction was finished in September 1959. There was only 3 elevators, one passenger elevator and one freight elevator in 1 Makarina Street and one passenger elevator in 3 Makarina Street. In Floors 1-3, there was just offices and no shopping center in this location. Since 1991 there is a shopping centre here and both office building and shopping centre got a name, '''The Piles Centre'''. At that time the elevator in 3 Makarina Street and the offices in floors 1-3 were removed, but both elevators in 1 Makarina Street were modded by Haushahn. In 2014, H&M opened and decided to install one glass elevator there. That time also TK Maxx opened it's doors, and also TK Maxx installed an elevator. Also that time most of the old passenger elevators were modded by Lutz.
