Planned changes for LF Building Creator 4.0[edit source]

The update originally planned as version 3.1 has been renamed to 4.0, as it introduces a major system overhaul.

1. System changes[edit source]

  • The internal system of the creator is being redesigned.
  • Skyscrapersim code will no longer be generated live.
  • Code will instead be generated when clicking “Finish”, similar to SBCR.
  • This change is required to support an “Edit any building” feature using the creator’s own internal code language.
  • The “Create a new building” button is temporarily disabled during the transition.
  • Planned code generation order: exteriors → walls → doors → atriums → escalators → lifts → stairs → cars/objects.

2. UI and interaction updates[edit source]

  • Revised main UI.
  • Dedicated UI for the escalators feature.
  • Transition from coordinate prompts to a drag‑and‑draw system for rooms (currently with some lag when dragging a room after the first time).

3. Introduction of three operating modes[edit source]

  • Beginner Mode
    • Uses SVN textures
    • No escalators
    • Simple lift chassis
    • No inspection box
    • No EG881 / LF IP dependencies
    • Intended for users without additional texture packs
  • Normal Mode
    • Uses EG881 / LF IP textures
    • Escalators enabled
    • Realistic lift chassis (RealisticTopBox2024)
    • Includes inspection box (RealisticTopBox2024)
    • Requires EG881 / LF IP
    • Recommended for most users
  • Advanced Mode
    • Includes all features of Normal Mode
    • Additional options:
      • Selectable room door opening direction
      • Selectable lift door position (left / middle / right)
      • Selectable lift cab height
    • Intended for experienced users

4. Planned features for 4.0[edit source]

  • Atriums
  • Multiple elevator types, including destination dispatch
  • Inspection box and chassis (elevator cartop)
  • Fire alarm systems
  • Skirting boards (colour matching door colour)
  • Objects (e.g. sofa, key, tree)
  • Shopfronts
  • Skylights
  • More realistic travelators (moving walkways)
  • Columns
  • Terraces with railings

5. Reason for the system change[edit source]

  • The old system was prone to structural errors (e.g., missing <Floor 0> or doubled <EndFloors>), which caused Skyscrapersim error messages.
  • The new system aims to be more stable, extensible, and compatible with future object types.
